When Clemson transfer Tré Williams was asked if he would ever go to South Carolina, he had a very quick and clear answer.

“Oh, would I ever consider going to South Carolina? No,” the graduate defensive tackle said without hesitation.

But for senior defensive back Jaden Mangham, who transferred from Michigan State to the Michigan football team before last season, the 65-mile trek was a journey worth taking.

Mangham decided to transfer to the Wolverines after an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention sophomore season with the Spartans in 2023. That season, he led the team with four interceptions, while tallying seven pass breakups and 53 tackles on top of that. Despite the success, Mangham wanted a place that would push him further both on the field and in academics.
