LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Michigan State Police troopers are investigating after a 40-year-old moped driver from Olivet died after being struck by a pickup truck Tuesday morning.

MSP says troopers were dispatched to the area of Marshall Road and Brandy Lane in Walton Township, just northeast of Olivet, for a report of a traffic crash.

Police say their investigation indicates that the moped driver was operating a 2008 JCL moped and traveling northeast by Marshall Road. He was then struck by a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup driven by an 18-year-old man from Bellevue.

Eaton Area EMS transported the moped driver to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.

MSP is continuing to investigate but the agency says alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a fact
