WECA reveals jaw-dropping sum paid to top boss for 10 weeks' work

The man in charge of the West of England Combined Authority (Weca) received a whopping £120,664 for less than 10 weeks’ work last year – the same rate as £658,167 for a full 12 months.

The amount paid to interim chief executive Richard Ennis included salary and any exit payoff, plus expenses which the organisation’s annual draft accounts for 2024/25 show totalled £4,774 and are understood to be his hotel accommodation.

He left the organisation – comprising Bristol, South Gloucestershire , and Bath & North East Somerset councils – in June last year.
