A federal judge on Monday quashed a series of subpoenas issued by the Justice Department to Boston Children's Hospital after concluding their purpose was not to help investigate possible billing or fraud issues at the hospital but to try to end both the hospital's and Massachusetts's commitments to "gender-affirming care" (GAC) for trans and gender-dysphoria patients.
The Justice Department served the hospital with the subpoenas in June, ostensibly seeking information that could indicate whether the hospital was making unlawful "off-label promotion" of "puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones" or making bogus reimbursement claims to federal healthcare programs.
