NORFOLK, Va. — The annual showdown between Old Dominion and Virginia Tech is set for Saturday at 7pm in Blacksburg, with both programs entering the matchup on very different paths.

Last season, the Hokies rolled past the Monarchs 37-17 in Norfolk. This year, Old Dominion sits at 1-1 after a commanding win over North Carolina Central, while Virginia Tech has stumbled to an 0-2 start with losses to No. 13 South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Despite the challenge ahead, ODU head coach Ricky Rahne says his team is ready to embrace the opportunity.

"It's something that I do not take lightly," Rahne said. "Not everybody in our league gets this chance. Arkansas State just got that opportunity for like the first time."

Linebacker Jahleel Culbreath echoed the confidence in the Monarchs’ locker room.
