NORFOLK, Va. — It’s back to work for Norfolk State football after a dramatic 34-31 overtime victory at home against Virginia State. Now, the Spartans (1-1) turn their focus to their first road trip of the season under head coach Michael Vick, a Newport News native.

The challenge ahead is significant: a matchup with Rutgers of the Big Ten, who enter Saturday’s game at 2-0. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a convincing 45-17 win over Miami (OH) after edging Ohio University 34-31 in their opener.

Vick says his team is embracing the opportunity. “It’s an opportunity to make some noise,” he said during his weekly press conference Tuesday. “The opportunity to compete and see how good we are.”
