A huge redevelopment of one of Greater Manchester's best known and busiest motorway junctions will make it 'less confusing', improve traffic flows and cut journey times it is claimed.
The government has given the green light for a major upgrade of the junction which it is estimated could cost between £207m and £340m and would take around two years to build.
Following a six-month review by the Planning Inspectorate, the Department of Transport has given National Highways consent for the overhaul of junction 18 of the M60 , where the motorway meets the M62 and M66.
Used by more than 90.000 vehicles every day, it is one of the busiest junctions in the North West.
