WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. - Big changes could be coming to the West Memphis School District. Leaders are considering moving sixth graders to junior high, ninth graders to high school, and consolidating two elementary schools.
The district held their first community meeting on the possible changes Monday.
West Memphis School District Superintendent Eric Foster said the goal is better resources and stronger academics, while parents said they just want to be sure the transition won't leave students behind.
The superintendent said it's about giving students more: more teachers, more programs, and more opportunities to succeed.
