China has hit out at media reports that President Donald Trump has asked the European Union to increase tariffs of up to 100% on China and India in a bid to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the Ukraine war.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said, in comments reported on X by Global Times , China's state-affiliated newspaper: "We firmly oppose directing the issue at China and we resolutely oppose the so-called economic pressure being imposed on China."
