A Perth hills father has been found guilty of setting his wife on fire days after she ended their marriage in 2023.

Peter John Moiler, 44, was accused of walking up to Kirsten Moiler as she sat in her car outside the home they previously shared, before dousing her in a flammable liquid and setting her alight.

She was left with partial and full thickness burns to 38 per cent of her body.

Moiler pleaded not guilty and went to trial, claiming Kirsten had set herself on fire in front of him. However, a jury on Wednesday found him guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent.

The couple, who have three children together, had just separated after 11 years of marriage.
