Dr. Clayton Creswell Stansbury Jr., a Morgan State University psychology professor who led the school’s honors program and planned graduation ceremonies, died of old-age complications Aug. 30 at Future Care Lochearn. The former Lochearn resident was 93.

Born in Havre de Grace, he was the son of Mary V. Stansbury and Clayton C. Stansbury, Sr., a Pullman Co. railroad car porter.

“My uncle came from a remarkable family,” said his niece, Erica Waters.”His brother was the first African American physician to practice at Harford Memorial Hospital. His younger brother Wardell was one of the first Blacks on the Havre de Grace City Council.”

As a child he picked up the name Czech and attended the former Havre de Grace Colored School, where he graduated in 1951.
