NATO countries along the alliance's eastern flank need a "drone wall," the European Union 's top defense official said on Wednesday, after Poland said it had intercepted Russian drones for the first time in more than three and a half years of full-scale war in Ukraine.
Andrius Kubilius, the European commissioner for defense and space, said "we must urgently develop" a "drone wall" across the "entire EU Eastern flank."
Poland's operational command said that early on Wednesday, they responded to an "unprecedented violation of Polish airspace" by Russian drones, calling it "a real threat to the safety of our citizens."
