Video shows the aftermath of a fiery crash involving a Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) cruiser in Southwest Miami-Dade early Wednesday.

It happened just after 2:30 a.m., authorities said, when an on-duty deputy was driving a marked vehicle in the area of 87th Avenue and Southwest 32nd Street.

At some point, the deputy vehicle was hit by a Nissan sedan, MDSO said. The man behind the wheel of the Nissan lost control, crashed into a tree, and caught fire.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was able to put out the fire and rush the driver to a local hospital in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported.

Several blocks of Southwest 87th Avenue were blocked in between Southwest 48th Street and Southwest 52nd Street.

Take Southwest 97th Avenue as an alternate route.
