In Tuesday’s 9-3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies , Soto stole his 30th base of the season, joining the 30-30 club to go along with his 38 home runs. His previous career high for stolen bases in a season was 12.
“Definitely a lot of hard work we’ve put in since the beginning of the season,” Soto said after the game. “ (Mets first base coach) Antoan (Richardson) has done an unbelievable job. He’s been helping me since day one, so I think I’ll give him all the credit. He’s the one who put me in this situation.”
