The finishing touches were being put on Bremerton's Sixth Street the morning of Sept. 5, where new lanes were painted from Warren Avenue to Naval Avenue after a months-long street preservation project -- but that paint may not last long.

That's actually the intention of the city of Bremerton, which later this month will again present options to the community of what a formal lane designation for Sixth Street, from downtown to the Callow Avenue neighborhood, should look like. It's all part of a transportation project to improve safety and access for pedestrians and bicyclists that started nearly 20 years ago, and is nearing completion as the city reimagines one of its main east-west corridors.
