VIRGINIA, USA — About 2,000 Dominion Energy customers are still without power across Hampton Roads Wednesday morning following last night’s storm, down from a peak of about 25,000 outages.
Crews say the remaining outages are caused by a mix of downed wires, broken cross arms, and pole fires.
In Virginia Beach, most outages are in the Great Neck area and were caused by salt buildup on power lines, which sparked a pole fire and knocked wires down. Portsmouth is also dealing with a broken cross arm from salt buildup, which led to a fire. In both cities, crews are working to reset poles, a process expected to take several hours.
The Camelot section of Chesapeake has one of the larger areas of outages still being repaired.
