GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Public drinking water utilities from across Wisconsin are competing in a blind taste test for the title of best-tasting tap water in the state.

Appleton Water Utility is defending its title after claiming the title in last year’s championship. Appleton went on to place 2nd in the country in a national competition.

Green Bay, Menasha, Madison, Milwaukee and Stevens Point will be trying to take away Appleton’s crown.

The American Water Works Association Wisconsin Section conference starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison.

The AWWA conference also has no fewer than eight seminars this year on PFAS -- the forever chemicals.

There are also discussions about replacing lead service lines and controlling corrosion.
