RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Delayed Harvest Trout Waters regulations on 33 trout waters will take effect starting Oct. 1,the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) announced last week.

Under these regulations, only catch-and-release fishing is permitted until June 6, 2026. Anglers are restricted to using artificial lures with a single hook and are not allowed to use natural bait.

NCWRC stocks these streams from fall through spring with high densities of trout to enhance fishing opportunities. Delayed Harvest Trout Waters, marked by diamond-shaped, black-and-white signs, are popular among anglers who enjoy catch-and-release trout fishing.

Please note stocking locations may change due to hurricane damage affecting access and equipment.
