FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — A Chicago area man has been arrested for shooting a Freeport man following a fight in March of this year.

According to Freeport Police, around 9:55 p.m. on March 13th, officers were called to the 1100 block of S. Chicago Avenue, where a 29-year-old man had been shot in the leg.

Investigators said that a fight had occurred between multiple people earlier in the area of Frank Street and Chicago Avenue, and when the fight was over, someone fired a shot that went into the home and struck the victim.

Authorities pursued Demetrius Henry, 41, of University Park, as the suspect. On Tuesday, September 9th, he was arrested while serving a 4 1/2 year sentence for an unrelated Freeport shooting in May 2025, that took place in the 1200 block of S. Carroll Avenue.
