Two people have been rescued after a fishing boat sent out a distress signal in the Firth of Clyde . ‌

An emergency operation got underway after nearby boats were alerted to a vessel taking on water on Wednesday morning. ‌

HM Coastguard were called at 11.35am on Wednesday morning. ‌

Rescue teams from Greenock, Largs, and Cumbrae were dispatched, alongside RNLI lifeboats from Troon and Largs and an HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter. Nearby vessels were also notified and offered assistance.

Both individuals were winched aboard the helicopter and taken ashore for medical assessment. ‌
