June 28, 1929 – August 6, 2025

Orene Kirby Scott, 96, of Seattle, WA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. She was born June 28, 1929, in Prescott, Arkansas, and was shaped by her early life on the family farm and faith at Mt. Cana Baptist Church.

A graduate of Arkansas AM&N College and the University of Washington, Scott dedicated more than 30 years as a social worker with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, later teaching at Seattle Community College and serving through the Seattle Urban League. She was deeply involved at First A.M.E. Church, where she initiated numerous missionary and community programs, including the Emergency Feeding Program of King County.

Scott was a charter member of the Delta Psi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc
