CLEVELAND, Ohio — Newcomer Austin Davis came out ahead in the newly-drawn Ward 7, as he and two other candidates run to represent an open seat on Cleveland City Council, according to unofficial results released Tuesday night.
Davis, along with Mohammad Faraj, and Mike Rogalski — are running to represent a Ward that encompasses much of the Cleveland’s near West Side, including Tremont, Ohio City, the Flats and parts of Detroit Shoreway.
As of 11:15 p.m., Davis had 950 votes, followed by Faraj with 564 and Rogalski with 187. The top two finishers will advance to November’s general election.
Ward 7 was redrawn amid council’s redistricting, which redrew political boundaries across Cleveland and reduced the number of council seats from 17-to-15.
The council seat is wide open because two inc
