CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio – The recall of Mayor Kahlil Seren jumped out to a massive lead in early results posted by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections Tuesday evening.

Among nearly 1,800 early and absentee voters, the measure that would see Seren booted from office was ahead 85% to 14%.

The tally did not include any votes from the more than 6,000 ballots cast on election day and will be updated throughout the night.

The vote comes as Seren, who in 2021 became the city’s first-ever elected mayor, became ensnarled in a series of scandals that has led to multiple employee resignations, criminal investigations, a civil rights lawsuit and Seren’s wife, Natalie McDaniel, facing a felony trespassing charge.
