CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A man will spend the next year and a half behind bars for his second convicted incident of domestic violence against the same partner in two years.
Richard Hunter Bottoms, 61, of Charleston, was found guilty Tuesday of domestic violence in the second degree.
Prosecutors say his conviction stems from an incident almost a year ago to the day, Sept. 11, 2024, in which the victim reported Bottoms, her live-in boyfriend of six years, saying he had attacked her the day before.
Bottoms reportedly came into their home angry, accusing the victim of being involved in an affair with one of their neighbors. The victim denied this, at which point Bottoms began his assault, prosecutors say.
This is said to have included him screaming in her face, grabbing her arms violently
