A 30-year-old man was arraigned on charges of murder and kidnapping in Lynn District Court Monday after prosecutors say police found him outside a home making statements about killing his sister.

Joshua Smith, of Lynn, was ordered held without bail on the charges at the request of prosecutors. A court-appointed lawyer for Smith did not oppose the request, according to audio of the arraignment obtained by MassLive.

Smith’s case has since been impounded and all records of it have been scrubbed from the state’s online court system. The Essex County District Attorney’s office has repeatedly declined to confirm Smith’s name.
