LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is reissuing a consumer alert to warn residents about the ongoing threat of government imposter scams.

Consumers are urged to remain vigilant against fraudulent emails, phone calls, or text messages from scammers posing as government officials or law enforcement agencies.

These fraudsters attempt to trick individuals into believing they are being contacted by a legitimate government official.

Their messages may offer fake medical discounts, request updated personal information, or demand immediate payment.

Often, these communications include links or attachments that may contain viruses.
