The Buffalo Bills added pedigree, and maybe a some intel on their next opponent, by signing former defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis, a former second-round pick, to the practice squad Tuesday.
Mathis, 27, was drafted No. 47 overall by Washington in 2022 and played three seasons with the Commanders before he was waived late last year. The New York Jets claimed him off waivers. Mathis spent most of training camp with the Jets but he was released prior to the third preseason game.
With Buffalo set to face the Jets on Sunday , the timing of his arrival could offer some inside perspective.
