LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Lincoln man was arrested early Wednesday morning after police say he stole a skid loader from a church parking lot.

Lincoln Police responded to an auto theft in progress at Sacred Heart near 13th and S streets just after midnight.

The church told police they heard construction machinery power up and then saw a man drive off with a skid loader from a project underway in the parking lot.

When the man exited the lot, police said he drove over concrete forms and broke concrete on the sidewalk. He allegedly caused an estimated $450 in damage.

Officers found the suspect, 35-year-old Tyler Forrest, a few blocks away. They learned he was not employed by the company working on the parking lot.
