Sarah Skagen has more to say about domestic violence.
Her script for She was expanded from a one-time, one-act performance at Fringe North to a full-length performance art piece that starts a four-show run at Sault Theatre Workshop’s Studio Theatre on Pittsburg Avenue on Sept. 17.
Skagen wanted to write a stage production about “something that mattered and something that was in the forefront of societal problems.”
She, premiering in August 2024 before a sold-out audience at Sault Ste. Marie Museum, came less than a year after Bob Thomas Hallaert murdered his ex-girlfriend Angie Sweeney and his three children with his ex-wife in October 2023. The mother of the youngsters, Kimberly Rose, was shot, but survived. Halleart took his life.
