NORTHERN KENTUCKY (WXIX) - A Northern Kentucky lawmaker is teaming up with law enforcement and state prosecutors to make grooming kids a crime.
Kentucky Rep. Marianne Proctor (R-Union) says the daughter of a close friend was groomed in an attempt to sexually abuse the child, making her that much more passionate about criminalizing the act.
Rep. Proctor is working with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Commonwealth’s Attorney Louis Kelly to get a new law passed next year in Frankfort.
“This was a little bit more personal for me because this was from a friend of mine, who I know, whose daughter was a victim of this grooming, and seeing up close the trauma that it caused her daughter and her family,” Rep. Proctor said.
