Sens. Tim Sheehy and Steve Daines are blasting Democrats for what they call “childish resistance” in delaying the confirmation of Kurt Alme as Montana’s U.S. Attorney.
For the second time in two weeks, Democratic leaders have objected to a procedural vote that would have expedited the appointment of Alme and others. The delay, they said, stems in part from Vice President J.D. Vance’s own actions as a senator, when he placed a blanket hold on Department of Justice nominees during the Biden administration.
Alme has served as the interim U.S. Attorney for Montana since March, when Attorney General Pam Bondi appointed him. He previously held the role from 2017 to 2020 during President Trump’s first term. Daines recommended him then and continues to back his nomination.
