LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio - The Warren Township trustees are looking into if the water and soil in the Mahoning River will cause any health issues when the Leavittsburg dam is removed.

Through public records requests they will be looking at results of tests done by workers at the site.

“There's 19 different chemical compounds in there that are very very bad stuff. They all came from old factory work,” Ryan Yoho, a Warren Township Trustee said.

They fear once the dam is removed the chemicals deep in the soil will float down the river and find its way into wells.

“It affects everything so once that contaminants, what we think are in there, are stirred up its gotta go somewhere,” Ed Anthony, Warren Township Trustee said.
