TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — An alleged drug dealer has been indicted after a man died from a fentanyl overdose in Tempe earlier this year.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced that Freddie Avila, 28, was charged under the state’s “Sale of Lethal Fentanyl” law, which makes it a felony to sell fentanyl that kills another person.

On March 15, employees at Jacksons Car Wash near Tempe Marketplace found the victim, Chris Joseph, dead inside of his car in the parking lot. Over 500 fentanyl pills were found in his cupholder, according to the county attorney’s office. Joseph’s cause of death was listed as fentanyl poisoning.
