The El Paso County Coroner's Office identified 22-year-old Jessenya Gaytan as the woman killed in a drunken driving crash in late August in east Colorado Springs.

Officers were called to the 2300 block of East Platte Avenue at about 2:15 a.m. Aug. 24 and found a woman dead on scene. Medics rushed two other people to a hospital, according to a Wednesday news release.

Investigators determined that a car was traveling eastbound when it veered off the south side of the road and struck a tree. Initial reports indicated that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, police said.

Gaytan was this year's 38th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs, according to the Police Department. There were 37 traffic deaths at this time last year.
