TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Shots were fired at an event held by Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk Wednesday, according to reports.

A representative for Utah Valley University told NBC News that the shooting happened about 20 minutes into a presentation and that Kirk was the only person hit.

Videos posted on social media showed Kirk getting shot, with blood visibly coming from his neck. Other videos showed students running from the scene.

Political figures quickly took to social media to ask for prayers.

"We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot," President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. "A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!"

"The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America," California Gov. Gavin Newsom said.
