LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) - A Leavenworth woman was sentenced Wednesday in a case that involved endangering a child and child abuse.
A judge ordered Sarah Lynn Nicole Jones to serve 32 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for attempted abuse of a child and 12 months in the Leavenworth County Jail for endangering a child.
The judge said Jones’ sentences will run concurrently.
According to court records, Jones’ case stems from a Jan. 20, 2025, report of the neglect of a 22-month-old child. Medical staffers at a Kansas City area hospital said the child weighed about 12 pounds, which is the average weight of a 2-month-old, and “showed signs of severe malnourishment.”
