Trayvon Byrd, 24, allegedly fired a handgun while fleeing on foot after the chase concluded near Plaza Avenue and Plymouth Street.
Police said Byrd, who is currently homeless but has ties to Gary and Indianapolis, managed to evade capture despite a large police response. During the incident, gunfire struck an occupied home, though no injuries were reported.
Authorities describe Byrd as a 6-foot-5 Black male weighing approximately 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. Police consider him armed and dangerous.
