A man has learnt his lesson, says his solicitor, after he was busted drink-driving on a short trip to get takeaway.

Scott Nicholaus Rees, 37, of Main Street, Lithgow pleaded guilty in Orange Local Court on August 28, 2025 to low-range drink-driving.

Court documents state Rees was driving along Burrendong Way in Orange around 6.15pm on June 18, 2025 when he was stopped by police.

Rees was subject to a roadside alcohol breath test and returned a positive reading for alcohol.

He was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station, where he gave a second positive reading for alcohol of 0.055.

The decision to make the short trip to get takeaway when he could have walked was described by Rees' solicitor Andrew Joseph as "silly".
