SPRINGFIELD, MO - After some slower progress this summer, a major road project in central Springfield is in its final stretch.

The Grant Avenue Parkway is transforming that corridor between downtown and Sunshine Street. The city tells us most work is set to wrap up by the end of the year.

Kristen Milam, a city spokesperson, tells Ozarks First that some land acquisition issues in recent months slowed the process down.

The $25-million renovation, which has been underway since 2022, includes street improvements, greenway space, walking and biking facilities, lighting, and utility upgrades. It'll provide a direct, improved link for drivers and pedestrians between downtown on the north, and the Wonders of Wildlife/Bass Pro Shops complex to the south.
