Texas LNG Brownsville LLC, another liquefied natural gas terminal proposed for the Port of Brownsville, has again been given permission by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to move ahead with construction and operations.
FERC had already issued the final order authorizing construction of Texas LNG (and Rio Grande LNG and associated Rio Bravo Pipeline at the port) when the D.C. Circuit Court in August 2024 vacated the authorizations in response to a lawsuit filed by the Sierra Club and others claiming that FERC approved the projects despite concerns over harm to the climate and surrounding communities.
