LUCKEY, Ohio — An independent analysis of samples taken from five private water systems in the village of Luckey showed it met all state and federal standards for safe drinking water, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

The analysis, conducted by state-certified Alliance Tech Group of Akron, looked for 24 contaminants across the five systems' samples, finding no beryllium, bismuth-214, cobalt-60 or radium 226 in any of them. Radon-222, a gaseous product of decaying radium 226, was found in two of the samples, "but at levels that were far less than what is considered unsafe," according to a press release from ODH on Wednesday.

Radon testing at three schools in the Luckey area also returned acceptably low levels, according to state health officials .
