BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at a speaking event Wednesday in Utah is sparking reaction in northwest Ohio.
Corey Sparks, an independent preacher who frequently visits Bowling Green State University to share his beliefs, was at the campus Wednesday afternoon and told WTOL 11 he was stunned when he heard the news.
“I saw the video, too. It's very, very disturbing," Sparks said. "...he has faith in Christ, so I don't fear that he's with heaven and with Jesus Christ."
Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, a national conservative organization, died Wednesday afternoon after he was shot in the neck at Utah Valley University, in what the state's governor called a "political assassination."
