ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man who appeared to be armed is dead after being shot by a police officer outside of a Midtown Atlanta hotel, according to police.

The shooting took place at the Four Seasons Hotel, located at 75 14th St. NE, just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. Police said when officers arrived, they “encountered the armed male in front of the hotel,” and when the man saw them, he ran towards the parking lot.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI), the man then turned around and walked towards the officers. Officers gave him several verbal commands to drop the weapon, but he refused.
