ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The newest group of Georgia State Patrol troopers includes one of Gov. Brian Kemp’s daughters.

Lucy Kemp graduated from trooper school earlier this month. She is one of 30 graduates in her class.

Trooper school includes 22 weeks of academy instruction, 12 weeks of field training and 1,400 hours of “advanced training.” The advanced training includes topics such as emergency driving, defensive tactics, firearms, criminal law, accident investigation, and Spanish, according to GSP.

Kemp achieved the highest academic average in the class and was rewarded the Corporal Chadwick LeCroy Scholarship. The scholarship will allow her to pursue a degree at Reinhardt University, GSP said.

She has been assigned to Clarke Post 32 in Athens.
