BROOKSVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A man is dead after a shooting on Tuesday in Bracken County.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) said the Bracken County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) asked for help investigating an officer-involved shooting before 6 p.m. on Sept. 9.
According to a news release, Bracken County deputies went to a home on East Augusta-Chatham Road for a welfare check on 34-year-old Justin Gillespie.
KSP said a deputy was talking to Gillespie on the front porch when Gillespie ran inside the house.
The deputy reportedly went around to the back door of the home and met Gillespie as he was exiting.
The news release said an altercation began and ended with the deputy firing his gun, hitting Gillespie.
