HENDERSON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Henderson, Kentucky, sits along the banks of the Ohio River, a peaceful place once home to the great bird artist, John James Audubon. You can sit on the riverfront and look into Indiana, or, on the shoreline just north of the city, keep looking into Kentucky.
University of Evansville history professor Dr. James McLeod said he runs into people all the time who wonder why, when they drive across the Ohio River bridges in Henderson, they go another mile before a sign welcomes them to Indiana.
"It's one of these really weird things that happens as a result of having rivers as boundary markers," McLeod said. "Over time, rivers change course."
