BOISE, Idaho — Conservative activist Charlie Kirk has died following a shooting at a speaking event in Utah, according to national news outlets. He was 31 years old.

President Donald Trump and multiple news sources confirmed Kirk's death on Wednesday.

"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us," the president wrote in a Truth Social post . "My sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"

The White House ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in Kirk's honor Wednesday afternoon, as announced by Idaho Gov. Brad Little's office.
