BOISE, Idaho — A 33-year-old man attempted to escape police by jumping into the Boise River early Tuesday morning after a police pursuit ended when spike strips disabled his pickup truck.

Shannon Levi was arrested after deputies and officers pulled him from the river using a rope, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

Police stated the pursuit began in Canyon County when deputies were called to assist around 1:22 a.m. as agencies pursued a fleeing 2008 Chevrolet Silverado.

The chase was initially called off within the Meridian Police jurisdiction, but officers soon located the pickup near West Joplin Road and West Chinden Boulevard in Boise.
