BOISE, Idaho — Hundreds of Idahoans gathered Wednesday night on the steps of the Idaho State Capitol to honor Charlie Kirk with a candlelight vigil.

Conservative activist Kirk has died following a shooting at a speaking event in Utah. He was 31 years old.

Following the announcement of Kirk's death, Idaho officials shared their condolences in statements. The Idaho Freedom Foundation organized a candlelight vigil for the evening of Wednesday.

The crowd sang several songs together, including 'God Bless America' and 'The Arms of an Angel.' The message at the vigil was constant amongst the several speakers: "Political violence is not the answer."
