BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Metro Council has just approved an amendment that gives the District Attorney’s office $825,800.

The money will be used to fund the office through the end of the year. It does not include any expansions or raises.
District Attorney Hillar Moore told WAFB he’s thankful for whatever extra money he can get, but the proposed $825,000 won’t go far.
He explained he lost 20 attorneys in a year due to being unable to pay them as much as other offices.
Moore cited his tax proposal failing earlier this year, staff losses, and consistent crime as reasons for a growing backlog of cases.
